Eclectic 2.0 is finally finished. Thanks to everyone who has subscribed and to everyone who has shown their appreciation for Eclectic “1.0″. This movie has been a brain-child of mine for about a year now, and I finally got a chance to create the right rigs and travel to interesting places to make this one come alive. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
The entire movie was shot using a digital SLR still camera and pieced together using Quicktime Pro and Final cut Pro. Since it was shot on a still camera, all the raw footage is 1080p HD. People always ask me how much time I spent shooting or how I made the time lapses. Well, on February 18th, I’m going to post The Making of Eclectic 2.0 in case any of you are curious about that. And you can sign up at the top of my website to be notified.
Also, I would like to send a HUGE thanks to Marlon and Mary of The Ghost Orchid. They provided the song that is used in the movie. They are an unsigned band out of the San Diego area who I came across on MySpace. Check them out, they are going to be releasing an album in February, and from the sound of it, it’s going to be good.
See some production stills after the jump.

i want to go to some of these places they are so beautiful. good work. made me think about life. haha
I AM ALMOST OFFICIALLY IN LOVE WITH YOU, ROSS. Great work, love it, love it, love it!!!! I just sent it to a bunch of people to check out; not because you asked, but because it’s actually that cool and I’m proud to show off your awesome work. I hate you for being able to travel more than me. =d I’m excited for The Making Of…since I want to know how you get your camera to move during the entire time lapse. =)
i like it a lot!
This is really great! I stumbled onto your site looking for an N3 to miniplug remote connector to use with extended astro exposures. I obviously haven\’t been using my TC-80N3 to it\’s fullest potential, but I\’m going to add this to the project list. This film has a much greater visual impact than it\’s predecessor thanks to the wonderful scenery and better use of moving elements within the scene (clouds, stars, water, etc.). I also like the quirky, poppy, catchy little soundtrack that The Ghost Orchid folks put together for you, very appropriate. I look forward to reading the \
absolutely beautiful. i loved electic 1.0, and i’ve been really anxious to see what you could do next. the music works perfectly with this. you captured some amazing stuff, and inspired me to get off the couch, go outside, and get back in to shooting. well done.
That was awesome! I absolutely love it. I thought the music worked really well with the video. Good work! I can\’t wait to see the making of.
Great job Ross. Very inspiring work! I would have been nice though to slow down a couple of the camera pans (that must have been difficult to time!) There were several really awesome scenes, but because the pan was so quick, it was gone before I could take it all in. It would be great if some of the individual time-lapse shots were available to view somewhere, flickr?
Excellent! I’m definitely interested in the HD version.
By the way, how have you not mentioned on your blog you were featured in an article in WIRED?!
Wonderfully awesome work, Ross. Great choice of locations too. You make the landscape dance. Visit Idaho, Montana, and the rest of the Northwest sometime. We\’ve got some incredibly diverse scenery up here. Check out my landscape panoramas at http://www.erality.com.
Wow! Absolutely stunning. You must get a great feeling knowing that you undertook a project this ambitious, but pulled it off. Perhaps the music video for The Ghost Orchid\\\’s music video?
Great shots & Great video make this one of the best (home) videos I\\\’ve ever seen.
Well done

great work! ;o)
An amazingly enlightening viewpoint of the environment in which we live. I especially love the night shots and how the motions of the planet become evident.
a lot of what you did reminds me of what Ron Fricke did in his movie Baraka

I have a question. I have been experimenting with time-lapse photography also. I have a canon 20D and am using the TC-80N3 as my timer. The camera is on a tripod of course. The problem is when I open all images into Quicktime. There is some jumping going with the stationary parts of the image. Say I have a sunset with a barn., the barn jumps in location on occasion. Granted, it is a minor movement, but it moves up or over just the same. I am not touching the tripod just babysitting it. Any thoughts?
